about

The Grass Blade is one of a set of fourteen sociological folk tales set around a future Tokyo railway station. Influenced by the Aum Shinrikyo sarin attack, the burst bubble of Japan and the nascent rise of mobile technology in the mid 90s it unsettles and haunts with layers of meaning interpenetrating like bands of neon and mist in a bad dream.

Published in Kyoto Journal, 1997.

Original version broadcast on Radio National, Australian Broadcasting Corporation, 1998.

“I listened to a few of the pieces and they were really interesting and had a lovely immersive quality to them.”
Jessica Radburn, Head of Business Affairs, Audible, Australia

Lee also produces the infamous Radio KaraGkatsu! at Soundcloud. ... more
